Gadsden ISD (NM) Trains Staff in Project-Based Learning
Since 2011-2012, Gadsden ISD has sponsored district-wide professional development for K-12 staff in Project-Based Learning with a strong focus on service-learning. Consultants from Partnerships Make A Difference and the University of New Mexico facilitate these training sessions. Each year, workshop participants are involved in seven full days of training throughout the school year or five days in the summer allowing them to develop and practice new skills over time. More than 240 Gadsden educators have been trained in PBL and service-learning as of the 2015-2016 school year!
What is Project-Based Learning?
In Project Based Learning (PBL), students go through an extended process of inquiry in response to a complex question, problem, or challenge. Rigorous projects help students learn key academic content and practice 21st Century Skills (such as collaboration, communication & critical thinking). -- Buck Institute for Education
